Centro-8M IR learning capability and Port Setup 2-way feedback

Post by cv27 » Fri Jun 02, 2017 6:58 pm

I just noticed in 2.327 "Centro-CM IR Learning functionality". Is there any chance this capability is built in to the Centro-8M and, if so, any documentation?

Also, is there any documentation on setting up the Centro-8M IR ports, especially on 2-way feedback?

The Centro-8M does not have IR learning capability.

I assume you mean setting up the optional RS232 port, not IR ports (which are 1-way). This is done via the web setup page. You need the RS232 Centro-8M cable.

I assumed the Centro-8M's IR was similar to Global Caché's iTach which is 2-way. Thanks for clarifying.

Is the RS232 Centro-8M cable proprietary or can generic USB to serial converters be used?

Hi cv27, the serial cable can be any Prolific chip usb to serial cable - about ten quid online. It seems to work out of the box plugged into any 8M usb port, just set your serial values up via your 8M IP address.

If using a 8M of course your IR will be two way using flags and programming. This only stops working if another system remote or hard buttons are used, then the processor will become out of sync. (Same with any control system).

For IR learning, buy a seperate usb stick then import the file.

Best of luck
