Commands for Samsung TV's. They've worked on most of the TV I've used them on.

I believe these are IR commands not Network.
Have been looking for the Network commands with out success so far.

Agreed the post details the general issues with IP control.
However even with the limitation of the Samsung not being able to power on over IP, there are still reasons why I would like to use IP to control other features rather than IR.

i believe the latest Samsung TV's now support power on/off over IP. I will hopefully be getting one soon so will give it a try.

Hi

I'm not too worried about the power on limitation - but would like to be able to add Volume Up and Volume down as IP commands.

Has anyone had any success controlling a Samsung TV with Demopad over IP? The model number of mine is UE40C6500 - but I'd be interested to hear whether anyone has tried this with any model

I didn't have any success, gave up and I am now using RS232.

Thanks! That'll save me some time wasting!

Samsung IP control protocol

From what I've read in researching IP codes for a Samsung 2017 TV (UN82MU8000), Samsung's Smart Hub (Tizen-OS) uses Websockets. You can find Python based drivers on GitHub that apparently work in speaking IP with those Samsung TVs.

I'm wondering if DemoPad has looked into supporting this protocol? The list of Samsung key codes is available and simple, but the wrapper (HTTP, WS) and exchange protocol would be in DemoPad's control.

Has anyone else for that matter come across any info on this?

Side note - What I'm hearing is that, in North America at least, Hisense has become so aggressive price wise that the other providers (Panasonic, LG, even Sony) are rethinking their financial viability in the consumer AV market. That could leave Hisense and Samsung the only players. All this to say that it could be wise to play well with Samsung.

Given IP is such a nightmare on Samsung 2015+ TV's, I'm setting up plan 'B': IR.

Has anyone tested this set of IR codes against a 2017 Samsung TV set?

P.S. I haven't received my Samsung yet, but trying to prepare.

I have been using the IR commands from the GC database with no issues what so ever. I haven't even tried IP commands since everything I have read hasn't been favourable.

Thanks! Good to know. IR is now my 'C' plan as I'm looking into going RS232 for mu MU8000. I just hate the sticky emitters and a blaster in my case won't do the job.

I agree, what I ended up doing was running the emitter along the silver base and then aiming it up to the IR port. You can't see the emitter and it works like a charm. I had it stuck originally, but it kept falling off. I have never used the RS232, thought about it, I just haven't done it. Mainly because I am very unfamiliar with it and which cable to actually get. Best of luck! But yes the IR does work, at least for me!
