I have been using demopad for a few years now. Just ran into a problem that I have never seen before. When I save an existing project without changing its name and reopen, everything is fine. If I do a save as instead and rename the project, demopad will have both the original file and the renamed file open. Both look fine. When I close the original file all the buttons in the renamed file turn into red X’s. If I close and then reopen the renamed file, the X’s are still there. If I open the original file, it is fine. Any ideas why this is happening?

Red Crosses are because the software cannot find the associated image files. If your new project was called 'mynewproject.pad' then there should be a 'mynewproject.pad_Files' folder in the same location. Copy all the image files from your old project _Files folder to this new one.
