IR Blaster Not Working

Lately I have had issues with DemoPad and my WiFi2IR unit. All of a sudden commands would catch up and my volume would keep increasing, I have had to jump and block the IR signal many times to keep from blowing my speakers. It wouldn't just do this with the volume buttons though, any of them. Then it would not work at all for hours. I tried soldering in jumper wires to move the WiFi2IR unit closer to my router, it was about 25' away and I moved it to about 10' away. When I use DemoPad and watch the LED's on the back of the unit it responds almost immediately. However, the IR blaster still did not work. I have one emitter that I use for lights and that works fine. I then moved the emitter to the output for my equipment so I could see if the emitter blinked, it did. I then used a camera to see if I could watch the IR blaster shine, I did not see anything. Do I have a bad/intermittent emitter? I checked continuity on the wires and they are good. Not sure what to do besides ordering another blaster. I've had this less than a year and was shocked to see how pricey they were, cheapest I could find for the Global Cache unit was $60 plus shipping! Any ideas?

I built my own blaster using some IR LED's that I had. It is working great, I'd actually like to make a multi direction blaster using 3 or 4 LED's. Anyone know how many LED's port 3 can power? Also, are the outputs current limited or should I add a resistor? I measured the DC voltage pretty low at .5 when sending an output.
