50 discrete IR devices

Post by link1896 » Thu Nov 15, 2018 3:18 am

Hello all,

I have a pub with 50 consumer grade LG tv's in it, that don't have a published API for control over Ethernet. While I'm trying to reverse engineer the SNMP packets, I'm thinking of plan B, which is controlling 50 tv's with IR, each tv needs to be controlled discretely.

GC-100-12 is going to get too expensive.
IP2IR is maybe kinda affordable.

Any other low cost Ethernet to IR solutions? I've googled till it hurts and cannot find anything more cost competitive.

thanks,
Mark

If I had more time I'd explore an arduino solution.

A Centro-C has 16 IR outputs, plus 12 relay outputs which you could theoretically 'route' the IR through to prevent IR signals going from one TV to another, so 12 relays would give you 24 IR outputs, with 4 left over. Eg IR output 1 goes through a relay, controlling either TV1 or TV2 depending on the state of the relay.
