Try using some network tool such as Hercules to first test out your commands. Much faster to setup and test and your get the integral response from the device. Thanks! Good to know. IR is now my 'C' plan as I'm looking into going RS232 for mu MU8000. I just hate the sticky emitters and a blaster in my case won't do the job.

Not sure what VSX you have, but Pioneer (and now under Onkyo) has for a while supported IP commands, if of course your VSX is Ethernet connected.
